research interests are focused on improving transfusion therapy
to sickle cell disease patients through blood bank management
and increasing the number of African American blood donors.
Current projects include 1) a descriptive study of blood
bank/transfusion medicine practices for sickle cell patients
in NC hospitals and hospitals affiliated with a NIH Comprehensive
Sickle Cell Centers and 2) a qualitative study of factors
influencing African Americans’ participation in blood
donation at a historically black college/university. |
