I am a research specialist in the lab and have been here for 11 years. I am responsible for the tissue culture work that our lab does to produce recombinant fibrinogen in CHO cells. I also have some independent projects where I study variant fibrinogens and their ability to polymerize under different conditions. I recently constructed several variant fibrinogens by oligo-directed mutagenesis to change different combinantions of residues on the Bb chain of fibrinogen. The three mutations I have made are: BbHRP (residues 16, 17, 18 have been changed to alanines); BbD386-390; and BbS443R. The polymerization curves for these proteins are interesting and we will be publishing these results shortly.
