I am originally from Hackensack,
New Jersey and I graduated from Muhlenberg College (Allentown, PA) in 2006
with a dual degree, B.A. and B.S in Philosophy and Biology. At Muhlenberg,
I performed botany research on a native plant in the Eastern PA area, Spice
Bush (Lindera benzoin) and cellular research on the effect of AZT
on CHO cells. I joined the Molecular and Cellular Pathology Ph.D.
program in the Fall of 2006 and rotated through the labs of Drs. Monte
Willis, Nadia Malouf, and Nobuyo Maeda. I joined the laboratory of
Dr. Monte Willis in the summer of 2007. The Willis lab investigates
the role of the ubiquitin proteasome system in cardiac disease. We
work specifically with the E3 ubiquitin ligase, Muscle Ring Finger 1 (MuRF1),
and investigate the role of MuRF1 in cardiac hypertrophy.
