Kellie R. Machlus
B.S., Biochemistry

Newark, DE
I graduated from the University of Delaware in May of 2006 with a B.S. in Biochemistry.  In August of 2006, I entered UNC as a Ph.D. student through the Interdisciplinary Biomedical Science program.  In May of 2007, I officially became a part of the Molecular and Cellular Pathology Ph.D. program.

I am currently working in the labs of Dr. Susan Lord and Dr. Alisa Wolberg.  I am interested in studying risk factors that may lead to venous thromboembolism (VTE).  Although much research has been done on arterial thrombosis, venous thrombosis and VTE is still poorly understood.  Therefore, my research will help to elucidate different combinations of components of an individual’s blood plasma that may put one at risk for VTE.
