I was born in Charleston SC, but spent my formative years in the town of Irmo, just outside Columbia SC.   I did my undergrad at Clemson University where I spent most of my time working in a genetics lab and singing in a male a cappella group called Tigeroar.  I graduated from Clemson in 2005 with a B.S. in biochemistry, and came to Chapel Hill in the fall of 2005.  In my first rotation with Dr. Alisa Wolberg, I studied thrombin generation and heparin-induced thrombocytopenia.  My second rotation was with Dr. Buddy Weissman where I studied the human SWI/SNF chromatin remodeling complex.  I am currently in my third rotation in the laboratory of Dr. Frank Church studying the plasminogen activator system and Activated Protein C in the context of cancer metastasis.  In my spare time I enjoy writing music, playing guitar, and long walks at dusk on the beach.
