I am originally
from Panama but grew up in Fayetteville, NC. I went to undergrad
at N.C. State University and completed my B.S. in Microbiology. After
graduation, I worked at Syngenta where I did some research looking at herbicide
tolerance in plants. I left Syngenta to pursue a position at Merck
Pharmaceuticals where I investigated the cytotoxic effects of clinical
compounds. I left Merck in July 2006 to pursue my graduate degree
at UNC in the Interdisciplinary Biomedical Sciences Program. After
several rotations, I joined the laboratory of Dr.
C. Ryan Miller where we study the cell signaling pathways and protein
profiles that lead to proliferation and invasion of astrocytomas.
